Check out this cute photo we received this week from a couple of campers in Birmingham! The caption read “A little early but we miss camp!”

Check out our new video! This 10 minute video tells you all about Camp Skyline. See how we enrich young girls in God, relationships, and self!
Folks in the camping industry have known for years that two weeks at summer camp were not just about having fun. Camps provides “fun that means something too” as Bob Ditter calls it (Bob Ditter is a Child Psychologist and friend of Camp Skyline.) Sending your child to camp can prepare her for college in a way that school will not.

I believe this scene is from a Counselor Hunt Night circa 2004. There sure are some goodies in this picture! I hope these old counselors are doing well!

Hello Camp Skyline friends! I hope y’all are having a WONDERFUL Christmas season! I don’t know about you, but I’m such a sucker for this time of year and all things Christmas. With that said, Wendy and I jumped at the opportunity to get a Skyline float together for the Valley Head Christmas parade that took place on Saturday. (Valley Head is the little town at the foot of Lookout Mountain – 5 minutes away from Mentone.) We rallied the Skyline crew in the area and decked the camp flatbed truck and had a blast riding through town throwing candy at the spectators. We were so impressed with the parade turnout – there were Christmas clowns on huge bicycles, equestrians, a precious 6 year old Mary and Joseph, all the emergency vehicles in the area, and even a town dump truck “float”! A huge thank you goes to awesome campers Sammi and Isabellle Goggans and Madden Ragan, camp alumnae Spooks and Ms. Barbara, and Paige, who helps out in the office, for riding with us. And of course Avery and her cousins were there too to make the float extra cute. Merry Christmas, y’all!

Many of our current Skyline families give their daughters or granddaughters the gift of camp for Christmas. We think this is a wonderful idea that lasts much longer than the latest toy craze. Please take a minute to read the latest article from the American Camp Association about giving the gift of camp.

You go girls! You rock those matching Tshirts!

Ok y’all…in continuing with Throwback Thursday AND reflecting on what we are thankful for, please take a look at this little goodie! We are thankful for Pickle for being such a great father figure at camp and bringing a lot of humor too!

Attention Skyline friends who like to run, walk, cheerlead, or just feel intense…Some of the Summer 2011 counselors and myself are planning a reunion for the weekend of January 7th in Columbus, GA. In addition to much laughter, reminiscing, and carbo-loading, the highlight of our reunion will be the Red Nose Half Marathon in Columbus on the morning of the 7th, and we invite you to join us! We are 8 weeks out so grab your running shoes and start training!
The race is actually free (which is awesome…most races would be at least $50-$70!), and we are encouraging our Skyline participants to consider a donation to the Skyline Foundation in lieu of a race entry fee or else to have family and friends sponsor you per mile to raise money for the Foundation. No matter what, we hope you will join us as we run, walk, dance, skip, hopscotch, shiver (and any other method of your choice) our way through the half marathon! Visit rednosehalfmarathon.com for registration details or email for more information.
